Renaissance Armour: Form Meets Function

Armour and weapons during the Renaissance era were practical, decorative and symbolic. Armour was proudly displayed in tournaments and parades, and even at funerals, where a knight's weapons and armour were hung over his tomb.

By the Renaissance, armour had evolved to become a highly versatile "garment" consisting of a basic piece called the garniture which could be enhanced with various additional modules which performed various functions for tournaments, field sport and /or battles

Ceremonial armor and weaponry were also popular during the Renaissance.
